Wednesday 25th June

Days until event - 332

Miles run so far in training - 27.83

Rebounder in minutes so far - 62 mins

I've always been a goal junkie.....I love the idea of stepping out of my comfort zone and going for the unknown. Walking the path less trod and staying out of the box has been a constant theme in my life, and its always felt like an extension of that to set goals for myself that I didn't know if I would achieve or not.

Running/walking an ultra marathon was always on my 'list', and I thought that once I'd done one that I would be happy and move onto something else. But I was wrong.

Despite doing two ultra marathons already - a 36 miler and then a 62 miler, it seems that this gal just wants to go further still. These feet of mine were definitely made to put some miles under them.

100 miles is a daunting challenge. But I'm truly excited by it. I think it helps that this time around I have found an amazing running group to share my excitement with.

I grew up around running clubs, my grandad was a co-founder of Ilford AC, and its where my parents (both runners) met. I grew up thinking that running clubs were a bit 'elitist' though. That they tended to look down their nose at people who weren't as fast or obsessed with winning all the time.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as obsessed as the next runner with splits/PBs/running pace and all the rest of it. But, I run for me and not to beat anyone else.

I run because I love the feel of just being able to take off with nothing but my own two feet to lead the way.

So, when I found Zig Zag Running and discovered that their events were just about running - any distance from 5k to an ultra distance in 6 hours; and then having coffee and cake after (not to mention fab medals) I knew I'd found my tribe. People who run ultras in those 6 hours cheering on people battling a 5k for the first time. Made my heart smile.

Having been a solitary runner in the past, I am now learning the joys of running with other people and sharing the excitement that only a fellow runner will understand. And hell, I am finally calling myself a runner whereas before I would only refer to myself as a 'plodder'.

Ok, back to training.....I am stuffed for time today and tomorrow as I prep for a roadtrip on Friday and catch up with clients and classes I missed from last week.

So, I hopped on the rebounder and bounced out 20 minutes. Its actually a great cardio workout and I get to focus on my form a bit more.

I also had a PT client and did the workout with them. I don't always workout with clients, but some find it added motivation, and like to be able to see the exercise being performed. I am also teaching yoga tonight.

A busy day!

Happy running peeps.
