Farmmageddon - May 2026 - 100 miles

Days until event - 355

Miles run so far in training - 6.96

It's on!! my first 100 mile event.

I love a challenge, setting myself a goal and then going for it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but without a goal, you never know how far you can push yourself. What limits you butt up against and can't get through, and what limits you burst through and shatter.

I've always lived my life this way. Traveling loads, moving house often, living in a caravan for 7 years whilst exploring Europe, playing with different business ideas. I've jumped out a plane, built a house, run several marathons and two ultra marathons. Life to me is for adventures, for pushing the envelope and continually moving forward.

So, when the idea formed in my head for a 100 mile ultramarathon, it really was just a matter of time before I signed up for one.

Farmmageddon is the one. A 5.3k loop over farm land and trails next May. I have a year to prepare and you better believe I am going to need everyone of those days to get my mind and body ready.

And it starts today. I'm going to log all my training on here, and probably bore the pants of you all as I do so!

Today's run was 6.96 miles. I jeffed (run/walk) the hills and ran the downhills and flats. Surprisingly we do have a few hills in Norfolk so I am taking advantage of them.

The first phase of training is the base phase and it will last 4 months. The aim is to build a consistent amount of weekly miles (not increasing them week on week) but more to get the body used to moving.

I'm going to be jeffing the ultra so that starts in training now. I haven't decided yet if I am going to do set intervals of run/walk, or because its a short loop, I'll walk the hills (apparently there are a few) and run the rest. Towards the end of the race I am sure I will be walking most of it. My plan is to run as much as I can in the daylight hours and then walk more overnight.

Come along for the ride and let's see how I get on!!!
