Rebounder in minutes so far - 42 mins
Well that was a week I don't want to repeat in a hurry. 15 hours spent sat in A&E with hubby who had a bad/serious reaction to the anti-spasmodic drug Baclofen. He's all good now, but it will be a long time (if ever) before we take prescription meds again!
The result for me though was that 15 hours sat for most of the time didn't do my knee any good at all.
I've had a really good recovery from my knee break, but I've been deliberate in keeping moving. I continued exercising (albeit from a chair) while I was still in the knee brace, and then once out I gradually increased my exercise getting back to running exactly 5 months to the day.
But having to sit for that long last week really didn't do me any favours. I always tell clients how important movement is, and I've lost count of how many times I've been told 'I've got bad knees so I can't do that'.
You can do it, and actually you should. Sitting still with an injury, or any kind of weakness just doesn't do you any good (and yes I know everyone is different and every injury is different) but broad brush speaking, we are creatures who are meant to move!
Having really blown out on training last week - save one 20 minute rebounding session - it was high time I took the knee out for a spin this morning. A short 5k to see how it felt. A few minutes in and I decided to change that to a 2 mile tempo run and then slow jog the last mile home.
It worked, my min/mile had a 10 in front of it for the first time!! Yes I know there is a 53 sec after that, but I'm taking my wins where I can.

The last mile home was meant to be a slow jog, but I kept forgetting that and it wasn't an awful lot slower than my tempo effort. 😂
So, I'm 4 weeks out from the Zig Zag 10 in 10 - 10 events in 10 days. The aim is 10k a day, but depending on how I am feeling I may sprinkle a half or two in there. I'm trying to be mindful and slower to my rehabilitation so we shall see. Maybe I'll just concentrate on the times for the 10ks and see how I can improve over the 10 days!!
Happy running peeps...
